Lock Your Vehicles... This isn't Mayberry.

The Midland Police Service would like to remind the public to lock the doors to their vehicles while they are left un-attended in their driveways and public places.

Locking the doors could prevent the majority of thefts as most entered vehicles are un-locked and very few are actually damaged to gain entry.

This is especially important during the holiday season when the public are out shopping and leaving merchandise and valuables in their vehicles. Don’t leave your valuables in the vehicle any longer than you need to, and use the trunk or keep valuables out of sight.

Furthermore, it should go without saying, but don't leave your keys in your vehicle either. Many recovered stolen vehicles have been located with the keys in the ignition. You will find yourself having to explain to your insurance company why you failed to take even the most basic precautions to safeguard the insured property.
